What are the benefits of doing laser hair removal?

There are great benefits you’ll receive when you opt for laser hair removal. Laser Hair Removal technology has changed so much in the past few years and at Enhanced Beauty, we offer the most advanced laser hair removal system that can get rid of unwanted hair quicker, less treatment and pain-free. We want you to feel confident about your laser hair removal choice! That’s why we’ve compiled a list for you of some of the amazing benefits you can expect:

  1. Cost-effective: When you opt for laser hair removal, you will no longer need to spend money on regular wax treatments, razors, or other hair removal methods. While it may cost more up front, you will save a huge amount of money in the long run, as well as a great deal of time that would otherwise be spent shaving or waxing.

  2. You don’t need to wait for hair growth: Unlike with waxing, laser hair removal can be carried out even if your hair is very short. That means you won’t have to wait for your hair to grow between treatments and you can stay fuzz-free permanently!

  3. Reduces ingrown hairs: Ingrown hairs commonly show up in areas of the body that have been shaved or waxed, because the hair has been broken off unevenly. However, with laser hair removal, you won’t have to worry about ingrown hairs, and when your hair does grow back, it tends to be sparse and fine.

  4. Laser hair removal leaves your skin softer than before: With laser hair removal, there’s no stray hair or stubble left behind. Your skin will feel silky smooth after a session, and even when it does eventually grow back, it’s thinner and softer than before.

  5. Minimal side effects: There are only a few minor side effects of laser hair removal, including temporary discomfort, redness, or swelling in the treatment area. These don’t last for more than a few days.

  6. There are no painful side effects: With shaving, you are one step away from a cut or bruise and with waxing, there is the risk of your skin being burned. However, laser hair removal leaves no room for such painful side effects, cuts, scars, or bruises. It’s a no-mess procedure that can be carried out on mostly any part of the body.

What is laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is a very successful method of long-term hair reduction and it is used by all genders to remove or slow unwanted hair growth. The winter months are the perfect time to have your laser hair removal treatments, as you’ll want to have very limited sun exposure, making January, February and March the perfect time to consider permanent laser hair removal. This will also make your summer a bit less hectic because you’ll find that without having to run around to weekly wax appointments, you’ll have the extra time on your hands! At Enhanced Beauty in Calgary, we offer the most advanced laser technology combined with our highly educated and trained experts, to deliver the best laser hair removal results.

How does laser hair removal work?

Laser hair removal works by emitting a wavelength to the targeted pigment, located in the root of each hair follicle. By absorbing the light, lasers are able to destroy hair follicles without causing damage to the skin’s surface. Since each strand has its own hair growth cycle, multiple laser treatments scheduled 8 to 10 weeks apart are required for permanent removal. As with any of our laser treatments at Enhanced Beauty in Calgary, we offer complimentary consultations so that you may receive the most optimal and personalized experience.

How do I prepare for laser hair removal?

We want you to get the best laser hair removal results in your course of treatment! By taking the time to do these before your laser treatments begin, you’ll be prepared for your appointment at Enhanced Beauty:

  1. Avoid Sun Exposure
This is why now is the perfect time to book your laser hair removal at Enhanced Beauty. Sun exposure in the winter months is much less than in the summer. For two weeks prior to your laser hair removal, it’s important that the skin area being treated is kept out of the sun. This includes both tanning beds and self tanners, as not only can their use lead to skin discolouration after your laser treatment, but a sunburn can cause excessive pain and blistering. Most laser professionals won’t even treat a client with a minor sunburn and will have them reschedule their appointment. Be sure to use a daily sunscreen if the treated area can’t be covered while outside.

  2. Check your Medications
When you come in for your complimentary consultation at Enhanced Beauty, it is important that when you speak to your laser professional that you inform them of all the medications you’re taking, both oral and topical. Some medications can intervene with your laser treatments, making them less effective and can also make skin sensitive and more likely to burn or blister.

  3. Stop Bleaching, Plucking and Waxing
As we mentioned, laser hair removal works by targeting the root of hairs. Your hair pigment or colour can be found in the root and absorbs the light produced by the laser, ultimately destroying the hair permanently. When you bleach your hair it alters the pigment and makes the hair more difficult to target. Bleaching should be stopped 4 weeks prior to your laser hair removal treatment, which is enough time for the hair roots to grow back to their natural colour.
Laser hair removal works by targeting the roots of the hair, so it’s essential that you don’t pluck or wax the treated area at least 4 weeks prior to your first treatment. Shaving is okay as it leaves the root in place. In fact it’s actually encouraged to shave the area being targeted prior to your scheduled laser appointment, which brings us to our next tip…

  4. Shave the treatment area
Even though it’s suggested that you stop plucking and waxing the area being treated, shaving it 24 to 48 hours prior to your appointment is essential. Even though your hair is invisible to the naked eye, the laser is still able to target the pigment located in the hair’s root. Shaving the area is required, as it severely decreases the chance of burns with the hair being below the skin surface.

  5. Remove makeup and creams
Our laser technicians will clean your skin in the targeted treatment area before starting the laser hair removal process, however it’s good for you to know what to expect as well! Ingredients in beauty products can sometimes affect the results of laser hair removal and should be removed prior to each of your treatments. This includes deodorant, make up, lotions, ointments and anything else applied topically to the area. Simply use soap and water to cleanse skin that’ll be treated.

As always, we are here to assist you with any questions or inquiries you may have, so please make sure to reach out to us! At Enhanced Beauty, our focus is safety, education and enhancing your natural beauty. We look forward to honouring your beauty this winter season!
